La Motte is delighted to announce its Classical Music Concert series for summer 2026/2027.
Inspired by owner and well-known mezzo-soprano, Hanneli Rupert’s love for classical music, the programme of monthly concerts includes an exceptional variety of acclaimed international and applauded local artists, seasonal themes and a warm invitation to enjoy La Motte’s winelands hospitality.
Guests are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine and some light refreshments in the estate gardens between 17h00 and 18h00. Concerts are presented from La Motte’s renovated Parshuis or Historic Red Wine Cellar and start promptly at 18h00. Please note that seating is not reserved. Make the most of your visit to the Franschhoek Valley and stay for dinner at the estate’s L’Ami Family Brasserie, a short stroll away from the concert venue. 19 September – Peter Martens (cello) & Megan- Geoffrey Price (piano)
A lively programme to echo the new life and energy of Spring in the Franschhoek Valley. Entitled Spring Awakening, this programme features short pieces by Popper, Piazzolla, Pärt, Casado and Saint-Saëns, sonatas by Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Rachmaninov and a Bach solo.
17 October – Elna van der Merwe (Pianist) and Zanta Hofmeyr (Violin)
Celebrate Garden Day on La Motte with refreshments in the beautiful estate gardens and a performance by renowned duo, Elna van der Merwe on piano and Zanta Hofmeyr on violin focusing on popular Sonates for violin and piano by Richard Strauss and Gabriel Fauré.
13 November – Karim Sulayman (tenor) & José Dias (piano)
A special Friday night experience featuring internationally renowned Lebanese-American tenor Karim Sulayman, a sophisticated and versatile artist who regularly performs on the world’s stages in opera, orchestral concerts, recital and chamber music. Winner of the 2019 Best Classical Solo Vocal GRAMMY® Award, he presents an innovative programme for La Motte.
5 December – Blake Pouliet (violin) & François du Toit (piano)
An exceptional start to the festive season at La Motte with Canadian violinist, Blake Pouliet and popular local pianist, François du Toit. “A tenacious young artist with a passion that enraptures his audience in every performance, Pouliot has established himself as one of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime.” (Toronto Star).
12 December – Christmas at La Motte with Brittany Smith (Soprano) and Esthea Kruger (Piano)
In the spirit of Christmas, this voice-and-piano concert traces the story of Christmas through a selection of art songs, from the anticipation of Christmas to the wonder of the Nativity and the joyful proclamation of Christ’s birth. Featuring the timeless works of composers such as Strauss, Sibelius, Saint-Saëns, Massenet and Fauré, the programme invites audience members to marvel at the magic of Christmas and experience the spirit of the festive season – one of hope, peace and light.
6 February – Miclen Laipang (violin) & Megan-Geoffrey Prins (piano)
Violinist Miclen LaiPang has established himself as one of the most compelling and versatile artists of his generation, a rare hybrid musician whose career moves seamlessly between the roles of soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster, educator, and curator. Miclen has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras and appeared at many of the world’s most prestigious venues, he is joining renowned local pianist Megan-Geoffrey Prins for a beautiful summer’s evening on La Motte.
27 February – Charl du Plessis (piano)
Steinway pianist Charl du Plessis presents a recital that seamlessly blends the worlds of classical music and popular entertainment. The programme features a captivating mix of masterworks from the classical repertoire, alongside beloved jazz standards, musical theatre favourites, and iconic pop melodies. Adding a unique element of spontaneity, Charl will also create live improvisations inspired by audience suggestions, making this performance a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
14 March – Charlotte Hu (piano)
Acclaimed for her energy and flair, Taiwanese American pianist Charlotte Hu (formerly known as Ching-Yun Hu) are praised by audiences and critics across the globe for her dazzling virtuosity, captivating musicianship, and magnetic stage presence. As a soloist, Charlotte has astounded audiences across the globe and is a frequent guest at music festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival. Her performance at
La Motte is a special Sunday performance with a harvest-time supper served in the estate gardens.
20 March – Easter Concert: Magdalene Minnaar (soprano) & José Dias (piano)
The La Motte Classical Music Season concludes with a special Easter Recital featuring soprano Magdalene Minnaar and pianist José Dias. Through a programme of beautiful and uplifting music, this celebration of Easter reflects on the life, sacrifice, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, bringing a message of hope, faith, and renewal.
